As many of you know youth sports is only possible with the help of parent volunteers to run organizations and most importantly to help by coaching. Each year as new players come into the organization new coaches are needed. As with many new coaches you may not have coached before or you may not have coached youth lacrosse before. That is how we all started. If you have played or even followed any sport chances are you can learn to be a great lacrosse coach too.

USA Lacrosse offers a coaching certification which is needed and can easily completed at home. Our organization will be having a coaching clinic before the season starts to get coaches together, mentor new coaches and to share inside coaching tips to help you begin the season off right.

If you are interested in coaching, please email

Include your name, the grade you would like to coach (or grade year of your child if you hope to coach) and any previous coaching, player or spectator experience in any sport you have basic knowledge of.

Also please visit the USA Lacrosse Coaching Development Pages to see how to obtain your Level 1 Certification. This is required as as US Lacrosse insured organization.

While we encourage our coaches to reach the high levels of certification, Level 1 is required for MHYLL coaches prior to the start of team practices. A background check will also be required for the safety of our youth athletes. Additional training via and CDC Heads Up Concussion Training are encouraged. Before can begin a back ground check is needed and  results submitted to CYL.

The board has approved head coaches will be able to register their child free to offset the cost of their coaching certification.
